Description:

Found all over India, Bengal and in Burma. "Two kinds of fruit are available in the market small one is wild variety and another variety is cultivable variety". Both of them have same medicinal properties when they fully ripened. It is a tree that grows upto 3 to 6 metres height. The Leaves are oval in shape and flowers has a pleasant fragrance. Fruit is round in shape greenish white in colour with a hard but smooth outer surface. The inner content of the fruit is mucillaginous and aromatic.

Uses :

Chronic dysentery, diarrhoea, mild laxative, asthma, fever, jaundice, constipation, indigestion, discomfort.

How to Use:

The following are some useful household formulae 

 1.  Take of Beal fruit 1, Holarrhena antidysenterica 2, Indian sweet fennel seeds 1, chebulic myrobalan 1 and Sugar 3 parts. Mix the above and prepare whole thing as powder then Plantago ovata. Dose - One to three drachms. Useful in        subacute and chronic dysentery.

 2. Take of Bael fruit 4 drs, Scindapsus officinalis 1 dr., Andropogon muricatus 1 dr., Symplocos racemosa 1 dr., Mix and reduce the whole to a fine powder. Dose - 20 to 30 grains.

Description:

Common weed in South India. It is found in waste lands has white flowers.

Uses :

Calculus affections, Coughs, etc.

How to Use:

For scrofula, the decoction of the grain with pepper powder is given and for diarrhoea one tola of the expressed juice of the fresh plant and 1/4 tola of catechu mixed together is given thrice a day. With asafoetida, ginger powder and bidalone added the decoction is given for  colic. A soup is a diet in sub-acute cases of enlarged liver and spleen; also a diet in piles. Pulse is a demulcent in calculus affections, coughs, etc. A powder of the seeds is applied to the skin to check cold sweats.

Description:

It is grown in tropical countries. This plant looks rosette in nature. The leaves are smooth having prickly edges and producing a long, erect stem which bears bulbis that fall to the ground and grow into new plants

Uses :

Purifies blood wounds, inflammations and checks excessive falling of hair.

How to Use:

Take two grams of leaves for a cup of water and drink one cup a day for cleansing the blood. Soak the leaves in the water for a day and apply as a tonic, in the case of falling hair.

Description:

It is a xerophytic plant. Aloe is cultivated both for ornamental and medicinal purposes. It has short stemmed and spiny toothed leaves which are very succulent or juicy in nature. Flowers are yellow in colour.

Description:

It is herbaceous plant, leaves are long, narrow, median nerve very strong. Flowers are greenish white in compound dense bunches, lip of the corolla white, streaked with red. Rhizomes slightly aromatic. This plant usually found in eastern Himalayas and western Ghats. Now the cultivation is taking up.
